British IT company becomes second largest in France
Family-owned SCC has deposed IBM and several of the largest systems integrators in France to rank second in TOP 2022. One of Britain’s most successful family businesses has been named the second largest IT services company in France. SCC, the privately-owned £2.64bn IT solutions firm, deposed IBM from the top 3 of TOP 2022, a ranking of the 170 main French Digital Services (ESN) and Engineering and Technology Consulting (ICT) companies, compiled by Numeum and KPMG. SCC first entered the ranking in 2021 in third place, but this year went one better, outmuscling several of the largest systems integrators in France, including Econocom (7) and Computacenter (13). Founded by Sir Peter Rigby in 1975, SCC has operations in the UK, France and Spain, and global service centres in Romania and Vietnam. It is the technology arm of Rigby Group, the £3.36bn multinational holdings company for a portfolio of privately-owned businesses. Rigby Group employs 8,500 people across 20 countries worldwide. SCC is Rigby Group’s flagship company, with particularly strong performance in France in FY22 propelling it ahead of Atos (3), Sopra Steria (4), Accenture (5) and IBM (6) in TOP 2022. Its growth in the past 12 months was driven largely by the dozens of IT contracts SCC holds in the French public sector. James Rigby, SCC UK CEO, said: “We continually reinvest in our people, services, and partnerships, which this year delivered outstanding financial performance across EMEA, with SCC France leading the way. This is a result of our strength in supporting public sector programmes which has flourished alongside particularly large growth in software services, which mitigated some of the supply chain constraints impacting hardware sales across the IT industry. “I am delighted that SCC has ranked second in TOP 2022, which is testament to the ongoing success of our digital transformation programme, the breadth and depth of IT expertise we have in France, and the talented people who deliver for our customers.” Steve Rigby, Co-Chief Executive Officer of Rigby Group, said: “As a major British, family-owned company, we’re proud of the impact we continue to have at home and throughout Europe, particularly in France. To rank higher than some of the biggest and most established SSIs and global brand names such as IBM positions SCC among the global elite. “Over the past 12 months we have made significant, positive changes to our businesses in the UK and France, including welcome additions to our leadership teams and a new set of values to better reflect our culture and family values. All of this has contributed to commercial growth and our achievement in becoming the second largest IT services company in France.” SCC entered France in 1998 and now employs 3,300 people at 23 city locations across the Republic. In September 2021, Sir Peter Rigby, the founder and chairman of Rigby Group, became the first British born businessman to receive France’s highest honour – the Legion d’honneur – In recognition of his services to the French economy and promoting strong business relations between the UK and its nearest continental neighbour.
