Making plans for enhanced workplace productivity with Cisco

The challenges that hold organisations back from improving user experiences and productivity seem obvious – and the best way to address them is to take a similarly straight-forward approach. Making sure that the user experience is as good as it possibly can be is vital to achieving the highest levels of productivity and return on investment. This was borne out by the findings of a recent SCC survey into workplace productivity, which we conducted with 550 individuals within our customer base. When asked to identify the greatest current technology challenge to maximising workplace productivity in their organisation, 25 percent of respondents chose ‘legacy technology’; 20 percent said ‘security’; and 17 percent selected ‘lack of training’ as the primary issue. Easy to address? On the face of it, all of these challenges are easy to address. Old technology can be replaced very easily. Security can be more complicated, but there are plenty of good solutions available; delivering training and keeping user skills up to date is usually just a matter of management making the decision to invest and the courses being scheduled. One reason that organisations are failing to address these inhibitors to improved workplace productivity is, almost certainly, a lack of budget. But holding back may be counter-productive and the longer these issues are left unaddressed, the greater the potential loss to productivity. Simple approach SCC’s advice to customers who find themselves in this position is simple: Re-assess the current state of your technology estate, digital security, and user skills levels; set out your goals, priorities and timescales; then make a plan and execute on it.
