Insider reveals first Midlands Tech 100

The Midlands’ largest and most influential digital and IT-related businesses have been unveiled in Insider’s inaugural Tech 100 for the region. Companies are ranked by turnover and combined the Tech 100 generated revenues of £7.92bn, an 8 per cent hike on the previous year. Profits more than doubled – up 125 per cent – to £652m. Europe’s largest IT group SCC took the top spot, followed by information services giant Experian, which has its UK head office in Nottingham. SCC was also revealed as the sector’s largest employer in the Midlands with a 5,473-strong workforce. Elsewhere on the list was a listed game developer Codemasters (24), which went public last year, as well as software specialist Ideagen (39) and security technology firm Synectics (73).
