SCC OPENS NEW SECURITY OPERATIONS CENTRE IN BIRMINGHAM TO SUPPORT CONTINUED GROWTH

PRESS RELEASE

SCC has added more than 30 people and five new services to its growing Cyber division

European technology solutions and services firm SCC have announced the opening of a new advanced Security Operations Centre (SOC) at its international headquarters in Birmingham, cementing 12 months of growth in its Cyber division.

In the past 12 months, SCC has made a multi-million-pound investment in creating a dedicated Cyber division, building on its previous capability within its Data Centre operation, including more than 30 new jobs across operations, AI, automation, technical architecture, product development, and sales.

The new SOC is accredited by CREST and provides a central base in the UK for the growing Cyber operations team. It further enhances SCC’s ability to monitor, prevent, detect, investigate, and respond to global cyber threats around the clock across customers’ attack surfaces.

Steve Harrison, Cyber Operations Director at SCC, said: “Our customers rely on SCC’s specialist Cyber expertise to ensure they can focus on running their businesses safely, against a backdrop of sophisticated and ever-increasing cyber threats. Our investment in the Cyber division underlines our commitment to our customers.

“The opening of our new SOC is the latest milestone on our growth journey, with plans to keep adding services and people to the Cyber team. This in turn will keep creating new opportunities for our customers to stay better protected from unprecedented challenges in cyber security.”

Rowland Johnson, CREST President, commented: “CREST is delighted to welcome SCC as an accredited member company following a demanding assessment process,” said Rowland Johnson, President of CREST. “SCC’s SOC accreditation puts the company in a strong position to meet the growing demand for high-quality, trusted managed SOC services. An effective SOC plays a critical role in underpinning incident detection and response capabilities in the face of increasingly sophisticated cyber-attacks, and this provides assurance for buyers that the company consistently delivers the highest standard professional security services standards.”

SCC has already launched five new cyber security services this year, with new solutions in development.

As a result of the integration between Microsoft and SCC’s new Managed Extended Detection and Response (MXDR) service, SCC was recently announced as member of Microsoft Intelligent Security Association (MISA), an ecosystem of independent software vendors (ISV) and managed security service providers (MSSP) that have integrated their solutions with Microsoft’s security technology.

Darren Salmon, IT Director at Wilson James Limited: “We are thrilled to have SCC as our trusted cybersecurity partner and benefit from their ongoing investment in their Security Operations Centre. The investment made by SCC to expand their Cyber division, along with the accreditation by CREST for their SOC, demonstrates their commitment to evolve their services and provide a strong defence for customers in a complex threat landscape. This investment strengthens our confidence in SCC’s ability to protect our business infrastructure in the face of advanced cyber threats.”

Viscount Camrose, Minister for AI and Intellectual Property at the Department for Science, Innovation & Technology (DSIT) said: “The UK cyber security sector is thriving thanks to our brilliant industry leaders who are constantly developing new ideas, and bringing the innovations which will keep us all safe online, to life. The opening of SCC’s new Cyber Operations Centre in the West Midlands will not only further that effort, but create new, highly-paid jobs which cement the region’s credentials as a cyber security powerhouse. We are cementing our place as a science and tech superpower, and we want to see every corner of the country continuing to play its part in making the UK the safest place in the world to be online.”

The formal opening of SCC’s new SOC will take place on Wednesday 28th February at SCC’s headquarters in Birmingham, UK.
