SCC UK appoints Chief Operating Officer
European technology solutions and services provider SCC has strengthened its senior leadership team with the appointment of Tom Dillon as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO).
Tom is a seasoned leader with over 15 years’ experience in senior finance roles within large international organisations. He started his career as an Audit Senior in financial services with Mazars, before moving to ‘Big 4’ firm Ernst & Young (EY).
After seven years in various leadership roles with RWE npower, Tom joined international Dutch company SHV Energy, where he served as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for three of the group’s businesses during ten years with the company, in Barcelona, Paris, and the UK
Responsible for financial and management accounting, operational finance, controlling, IT, legal, and supply and logistics, during his time in Spain, Tom directly helped double the size of SHV Energy’s Spanish business in three years, through organic growth and strategic acquisitions.
Originally from Hall Green in Birmingham, close to SCC’s international headquarters in Tyseley, Tom moved back to the Midlands earlier this year with his wife and children, aged 13 and 11, in search of stability for his family during these important educational years. He describes his appointment as a ‘homecoming’.
“Having moved back to the UK, I wasn’t immediately looking for new roles,” he said, “But the opportunity to join SCC felt like the right job, at the right time, with a stable company that is built on family values and has both 50 years’ heritage and significant growth potential. Having grown up just down the road from James House, this feels like a homecoming of sorts and I’m thrilled to join a business that is so invested in the communities it serves.
“I am a highly commercial and analytical leader, with extensive experience in business transformation at businesses with similar values, set up, and structure to SCC. While my experience is predominantly in financial services and energy solutions, there are clear synergies in the way SCC operates, with some differences that enable me to take an outside in view and add value with fresh thinking through an external lens.
“Importantly, technology is a high growth sector, and SCC’s long-term strategy and focus on growing the businesses responsibly will ensure continued success for many years to come. It was made clear to me before joining the business that SCC does not do short-term thinking, and I’m excited to be a part of the leadership team and help drive sustainable growth.”
Dennis Badman, CEO of SCC UK, said: “We are delighted to welcome Tom to SCC. His extensive leadership experience within global companies, combined with his deep understanding of business growth and long-term strategy, make him an excellent fit. Tom’s strategic vision and commitment to sustainable growth align perfectly with our values and goals. His unique perspective will be invaluable as we drive forward our ambition to be the most customer and people centric technology solutions provider in the UK.”
