Can HP Make Sprouts Popular All Year Round – Not Just at Christmas?

Love them or hate them, this is the one time of year when many people are likely have sprouts on the dinner plate, but judging by the initial response, HP is likely to persuade many more users to embrace its own Sprout, all year round.

The HP Sprout is attracting a lot of attention from home users and schools in particular for its creative potential. As a product it is difficult to pigeon-hole.  Described by HP as sprout as “a revolutionary all-in-one computer and 3D scanner that makes it easy to go from thought to expression in an instant” it is designed to inspire and encourage creativity and the use of 3D imaging and printing. Put simply it’s an Intel-based, Windows 10 PC, projector and 3D scanner all in one. The basic idea is that you first of all grab an image, 2D or 3D scan of an object using the built-in Intel® RealSense™ 3D scanning technology, then ‘mash’ up the design, resizing it or adding new design elements, then ‘make’ your customised creation by printing it with a 3D printer – either your own or via one of HP’s print service partners.

You can get all kinds of software for the Sprout already – for learning, creativity and fun. With an RRP of £1,699 it is not ultra-cheap, but it will certainly attract the interest of schools, creative businesses and individuals and it certainly looks like being much more universally popular than the eponymous seasonal vegetable.
