Dell Reveals Sale of its Software Business

Dell-softwareIt has been announced that Dell has signed a contract to sell off Dell Software Group as well as their Security, Systems and Information Management and Statistica business units.

The acquisition was made by private equity firm Francisco Partners and hedge fund management group Elliott Management in a deal worth around $2billion.

The move suggests plans for Dell to invest more into their hardware offerings, with many of their recent software acquisitions being included in the sale.

Dell’s Vice President, Curtis Hutcheson said: “This represents a significant change for our business, but one we are excited about. Francisco Partners has a long history of driving innovation and growth of its partner companies. This agreement will enable SonicWALL and One Identity to continue the journey to deliver world class network security and identity management solutions.

@Dell will remain a large reseller and partner of our world class solutions, but at this time we feel operating as an independent company represents the best possible option to accelerate the growth and serve our customers, partners and employees.
