Detachable Tablets Becoming Increasingly Popular as Sales Rise in 2015
In the last quarter of 2015, almost 20% of all tablets shipped in Western Europe had a detachable keyboard.
A report by IDC has highlighted that, despite sales of tablet devices overall falling by 1.8% between 2014-2015, a total of 2.6 million detachable tablets were sold, a huge rise from just 800,000 the year before. This meant that approximately one in every five tablets sold was detachable.
The market volume of tablet devices has declined 10.1%, supposedly due to the increase of detachable tablets, which command high prices.
Throughout the year, total shipments of tablets has fallen by 6.6% since 2014.
