Half the World is Now Online

Almost half (47%) of the world population is now using the Internet and more will come online as mobile networks grow and prices fall, according to a report by the UN’s International Telecommunications Union (ITU). In developed countries, about 80% use the Internet, but the figure drops to around 40% in developing nations and less than 15% in less-developed countries. The UN’s target is to have 60% online by 2020.
