HP Enterprise Targets SMBs with Converged Hybrid ProLiant EC200a Server
ProLiant Server – Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has launched a new line of converged, preconfigured servers aimed at the SMB market. The ProLiant Easy Connect servers enable smaller businesses and branch offices tap the power of the cloud whenever circumstances dictate or growth opportunities present themselves.
The compact HPE ProLiant EC200a is the first of a new family of managed hybrid servers that HPE plans to launch. Powered by an Intel Xeon D-1518 processor, it features tightly-integrated compute, storage, and networking technology, along with cloud management and virtualsation software from Zynstra built in. Disaster recovery and backup are managed within the cloud, so users do not need to worry about every-day management. The software integrates tightly with Microsoft Azure.
The ProLiant EC200s is a very well thought-out and genuinely innovative concept. It is a zero-touch solution, that’s ready-to-go, out of the box. While all the hardware sits on-premise, the synching, management, security and patching is all done in the cloud. Essentially it applies the thin-client concept to the server and thus provides a ready-to-deploy hybrid infrastructure that ideal for SMBs.
While customers will need to purchase the core hardware, they will subscribe to annual licenses for the management and backup capabilities. The ProLiant EC200s will support up to five virtual machines and is aimed at businesses and establishments with between five and 50 users.
