Even more resilient smartphones are on their way according to Corning, which says its new Gorilla Glass 5 will survive unbroken around 80% of the time when dropped from shoulder-height. Shattered screens are the biggest bugbear of many users.
Corning stresses that the resilience of the glass is dependent on the phone’s design, but we should have smartphone and tablets with tougher screens soon.
