Oculus Rift Puts Spotlight on Virtual Reality

Oculus RiftThe Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) headset has now been launched in the UK and UK consumers should have the opportunity to try this exciting and ground-breaking new technology for themselves in a number of retail outlets.

The Rift’s state of the art displays and optics, high refresh rate and low-persistence display work together to provide the most immersive VR experiences available.  A growing array of stimulating VR content is already available on the Oculus Store.

IDC is predicting the VR hardware market will grow from just under 10 million unit shipments and annual sales of $2 billion per annum this year, to 65 million units in 2020, with an annual CAGR of almost 200%. Virtual reality has the potential to create a completely new category within the market and generate sales of hardware, accessories, software and games, and drive a whole new ecosystem of related products like 360-cameras.

Initially, the Oculus Rift will be supplied to a limited number of partners with wider availability due to be announced soon.
