Plantronics Wins Three Prestigious 2016 Red Dot Awards
Plantronics Voyager 5200, Voyager Focus UC, and BackBeat GO 3 Recognized for
Excellence in Product Design
Santa Cruz, Calif. July 13, 2016 – Plantronics [2] (NYSE: PLT), a pioneer in audio and wearable technology, was honoured with the Red Dot Award, an international distinction for high design quality, for three of its products: Voyager 5200 [3], Voyager Focus UC [4] and BackBeat GO 3 [5]. Participants from 57 nations had registered about 5,200 products and innovations for the Red Dot Award for Product Design 2016. Only products which set themselves apart considerably through their excellent design receive the sought-after quality seal from the international Red Dot jury.
“Plantronics believes that functional, attractive, high-quality design is fundamental to developing products that integrate seamlessly into today’s modern lifestyles,” said Darrin Caddes, vice president, corporate design, Plantronics. “A premium design helps to convey confidence and competence during a call or while listening to music; delivering comfort and ease of use that enhances the user experience. We create solutions for people who want outstanding communications regardless of location or situation; whether you’re a music-loving commuter, an open-office worker, or working remotely from home or a café, and we’ll continue to make the integration of exceptional design coupled with industry-leading performance audio and overall reliability and comfort a top priority.”
Since its launch in April 2016, Plantronics Voyager 5200 has won Editor’s Choice Awards from PCMag and Network World, and the Voyager Focus UC was recognized as a 2016 CES Innovations Award Honouree. BackBeat GO 3 is the latest member of the critically acclaimed BackBeat family of wireless stereo products to be honored: BackBeat SENSE [6 ], BackBeat PRO [7], and BackBeat FIT [8] all received CES Innovations Honouree Awards and iF Design Awards in 2015 and 2016.
Plantronics Voyager 5200
All-day comfort and battery life were top of mind when developing the Voyager 5200. Designed for stability and comfort on a wide range of ear shapes and sizes, it will fit 90 percent of people1. The device feels as comfortable on the last call of the day as it did on the first. Up to seven hours of talk time on a single charge will see you through from your morning coffee until you wrap up for the day — and with up to nine days in standby mode the headset will be ready when you need it. A multi- purpose charging case2 serves as both a handy, grab-and-go dock for recharging the headset, and a protective case that provides up to an additional 14 hours of talk time on the go.
Plantronics Voyager Focus UC
A premium product for unified communications (UC) and multimedia applications, Voyager Focus UC was designed for enterprise workers in an open office or other loud environments, who want to eliminate background noise on calls or during focus time. The Voyager Focus UC headset’s high-quality design provides superior audio on both sides of the call.
Leatherette ear cushions wrapped around pillow-soft memory foam deliver all-day comfort, while a cushioned metal headband provides durability and helps maintain a comfortable, secure fit. The immersive on-the-ear design means that many high frequency noises like office sounds and voices are reduced in volume.
Plantronics BackBeat GO 3
The vivid, high-resolution audio delivered by BackBeat GO 3 lets users go wireless without losing audio fidelity. Every piece of BackBeat GO 3 was designed purposefully — from the custom speaker drivers to the precision tuning of the sound — to deliver a best-in-class listening experience. Six-millimeter drivers in each BackBeat GO 3 earbud result in a wider sound stage and range of frequencies to deliver natural sound and perfectly balanced highs and lows. Designed to seal in sound and block out noise, BackBeat GO 3 includes three different size earbuds to ensure a comfortable, stable fit that stays put on the go, while giving you up to 6.5 hours of listening time on a single charge.
Pricing and Availability
Voyager 5200 is available with a MSRP of $119.99 USD and the accompanying Charging Case is available for $39.99 USD. Voyager Focus UC is available for MSRP of $299.95. About Red Dot Design Award
In order to appraise the wide scope of design in a professional manner, the Red Dot Design Award is broken down into three distinct disciplines: the Red Dot Award: Product Design, Red Dot Award: Communication Design and Red Dot Award: Design Concept. The Red Dot Award is organised by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in Essen, Germany. With more than 17,000 entries in 2015 alone, it is one of the largest competitions in the world. It was in 1955 that a jury convened for the first time to assess the best designs of the day. The name and brand of the award were developed in the 1990s by Red Dot CEO, Professor Dr. Peter Zec. Since then the sought-after “Red Dot” is the revered international seal of outstanding design quality. Further information: www.red-dot.org [10 ].
