Security Apps Becoming More Popular

Security appliances continue to grow in popularity as organisations look for simple and effective ways to ensure their networks and data are fully protected from the threats of hackers and malware.

Factory revenues and unit shipments of the devices grew strongly in the first half of 2015, according to IDC. Worldwide vendor revenues increased 9.6% year-on-year to $4.9 billion, and volume shipments expanded to 1.1 million, up 8.8%.

Western Europe accounted for 20.3% of worldwide revenue, helped by strong results in the UK, which generated 23.4% of the total. Cisco continued to lead the overall security appliance market with 17.1% share in vendor revenue.
