Study Paints Mixed Picture on IT Security

The study by Spiceworks, Battling the Big Hack, found that while 80% of organisations experienced a security incident in 2015, 71% of IT professionals expect their organisations to be more secure in 2016. Malware attacks were reported by 51% of IT professionals last year, followed by phishing and spyware incidents at 38% and 34% respectively. Only 20% experienced a ransomware incident in 2015 but 53% are concerned about the issue in 2016.

Concern over data theft and password breaches registered at 39% and 37% respectively, but only 5% experienced an incident of data theft and only 12% a password breach in 2015.
