Wearables to Leap Ahead

Shipments of wearable devices are expected to rise 38.2% in 2016, according to IDC. While the Apple Watch is expected to claim almost half the market this year (49.4%), Android Wear watches are predicted to win a healthy 21.4% of the sector, with 6.1 million units shipping globally in 2016. The wearable devices market is expected to grow in double-digit percentages through to 2020, with shipments hitting 237.1 million units in 2020, said the analyst.
