Why Gartner Named EMC as a Leader in their Magic Quadrant

Throughout 2015, EMC have continued to introduce innovations within their hybrid flash array portfolio, not just in terms of increasing speed and improving ease of use, but also to push the boundaries of what data storage can do for businesses.

Senior EMC representatives have credited this ‘commitment to innovation, imagination and continuous improvement’ with helping them to retain a leadership position in Gartner’s 2015 Magic Quadrant for General-Purpose Disk Arrays.

In the past 12 months, EMC have announced a number of product line enhancements, starting with their revolutionary new VMAX3, the industry’s first enterprise data service platform.

Designed to be bigger, better and faster than EMC’s previous enterprise storage products, VMAX3 is an innovative new architecture from top to bottom, built to match the velocity of the industry. The system separates the software data services from the underlying hardware to allow new software functionality to be delivered more quickly and simply.

For customers, this means that they can rapidly evolve VMAX3 capabilities as their needs evolve. The VNX family pushes the boundaries inside and outside the storage hardware ‘box’. This innovation began with the launch of vVNX Community Edition this year and continued with the introduction of the VNXe1600 array.

EMC have also built upon their popular Isilon Big Data storage solution this year with the launch of the Isilon Scale Out Data Lake which brings the data, applications and analytics together. Isilon remains a key part of many businesses’ Data Lake strategies, providing the ability to store and analyse Big Data.

EMC says: “With our track record of substantial investment in R&D, you can bet that EMC will continue to innovate, enhance our existing products and develop new ones to continue to meet the needs of our customers, something that we’re confident will continue to be reflected in future reports such as the Gartner Magic Quadrants.”
