Secure Trust Bank and SCC

Secure Trust Bank (STB) is a well‐established brand in the UK retail banking sector, which was founded in 1952. As a bank, it looks after people’s savings and lends money to consumers and small businesses. There vision is to be the most trusted specialist lender in the UK. Matthew Froggatt, Director of IT Infrastructure and Architecture, said:

As a result, we’ve made significant investment over recent years to improve our technology infrastructure and IT platforms to deliver enhanced customer experiences, drive operational efficiency and leverage networks and third parties.”

SCC has been working in partnership with STB since 2016 to successfully continue to deliver their vision. 

Challenge

The initial engagement between STB and SCC started, when STB were completing a large project to implement a new savings platform. STB had reviewed their current hosting approach and concluded that the ‘on-premises’ strategy that had followed until then no longer met the Banks growing expectations for service, security and scalability.

Solution

STB decided they needed to explore moving workloads to cloud providers, but wanted to adopt a right fit hybrid model, which allowed them to place services in the hosting arrangement which best suited the service. For the new savings platform, STB chose SCC’s Cloud+ public cloud solution which gave STB the security, flexibility and service availability they required. Starting their journey into the Public Cloud.

Kam Khan, IT Infrastructure manager at Secure Trust Bank, who is responsible for ensuring the efficient and reliable operation of STB’s on Prem and cloud networks said:

The private cloud provides STB and customers with a high level of reassurance from compliance and regulatory perspective. SCC gives us instant scalability and removes any pain points we may have regarding capacity issues. It also means we don’t need to worry about things like the heating/cooling/power redundancy and resiliency of SCC hosted environments.”

This project started a steadily growing partnership between STB and SCC, with Matthew saying “What this process highlighted was the ability of SCC to not just deliver our hosting requirements, but their ability to be a one-stop-shop for all our wider IT needs. We see them as an extension of our IT dept, and as such we are able to rely on them to help with everything from office fitouts and desk moves to working with highly qualified engineers to design and implement new solutions.”
